What type of appointment should I book?
So that we can deliver personalised care in the most efficient and cost-effective way for you, we offer a range of appointment types. These are broadly categorised as consultations, procedures or testing, and we can even arrange virtual consultations in some instances.
If you’re unsure of what kind of appointment to book, just give us a call and we can help.
Consultations
Whatever the problem, every Oxona patient journey begins with a consultation. At this appointment, a specialist will listen to your concerns, discuss your symptoms and address any questions.
Then, they’ll outline all your options and help you choose your next steps.
Coil/implant consultation
The first stage of any coil or implant fitting is a consultation with the doctor. This can be in person or via telephone. Your doctor will discuss all available options, and give you choices about the best devices for you.
Contraception advice (in person or virtual)
Prior to committing to any form of contraception you should discuss you requirements with a specialist. Our GPs will be able to assess your needs and discuss any previous contraceptions with you. Once you have had a consultation you can either take a private prescription, or book a coil/ implant appointment. Or, you can take the consultation notes back to your NHS GP and continue treatment on the NHS.
Gynaecology consultation (in person or virtual)
This is a 30 minute appointment, allowing plenty of time to discuss the issue and explore treatment options. This appointment can be either in person or via video. It is advisable for most appointments to attend in person. If you are unsure then please give us a ring. This appointment is for all general gynaecology matters.
Menopause consultation (in person or virtual)
An initial consultation to discuss symptoms and treatment options. Your doctor will review your medical history and together assist you in making a decision on treatment options moving forward. This fee includes a prescription, blood draw (if needed) and a follow-up phone call. This appointment can be in person or via video link.
Menopause follow-up consultation
A review appointment to discuss on-going treatment. This
appointment includes any repeat prescriptions and blood draws if required.
Procedures
We can conduct a wide range of procedures at our welcoming clinics, at lower prices than many private hospitals.
Each procedure is performed by highly experienced professionals, who will explain the process and outline your pain or anxiety relief options.
Coil/implant fit
A coil/ implant fit is a 30 minute appointment to allow plenty of time to ensure you are relaxed and prepared for the procedure. This fee includes all pain relief options. It also includes a follow-up string check should you wish. The cost of the coil/implant is charged at cost price (scroll down for up-to-date prices).
Smear test
A standard PAP smear test, including the lab fee. We can offer more complex screenings if needed. Get in touch if you need something specific.
Coil and implant costs
All contraception is available on the NHS for free. However, your GP is not obliged to prescribe you with any contraception for a private service to then fit the coil/implant. You could ask your GP if they are able to offer you a prescription but please respect their decision if they are not able to prescribe in this instance. The decision will be related be related to prescribing responsibility.
Blood and lab tests

And thanks to our efficient lab partnerships, we can offer testing at more affordable prices.
